Championship Weekend Preview

Championship Weekend Preview

I feel like every time I sit down to write my preview I start it out with the news that another team is moving. Guess what? The Raiders filed paperwork to move to Las Vegas. Does anyone else think this is a bad idea? First of all, yeah their stadium is old and the locker rooms often flood – not to mention they share it with a baseball team. But they made the playoffs this year and would probably be playing this week if Carr hadn’t gotten hurt. Also they’re wanting to move to Las Vegas – the gambling capital of the world. You don’t think there’s going to be SOME sort of scandal while they’re there? You think a sports team in Las Vegas can actually function fairly? I do not think so, folks.

Anyway, we’ve made it to championship weekend. My Seahawks just really stepped on their own foot last week. Literally. For a safety. I’m still recovering. It’s fine though, baseball is soon. I don’t know a lot about baseball, but I’ve really become a fan over the last few years. I’ll save that for an off-season blog.

Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons

The Packers, you guys! Aaron Rodgers is playing like a mother fucking beast, but there’s someone who’s been overlooked his whole career creeping around the corner.

Matty Ice baby! This dude has played lights out all season long. The Falcons also have a running game where as the Packers have a wide receiver as their RB1. Jordy Nelson has some disease where he’s being quarantined from the rest of the world because it’s contagious. The Packers defense is pretty lack luster, but the Falcons rank like 27th is DVOA if I recall correctly. It’s going to be another week of offense, so hold on to your butts. The Falcons run game could be the difference maker in this one. And whether or not they can contain Rodgers. That guy gets out and starts running around, that’s when all hell breaks loose.

Hey, at least the Cowboys are out of it, right?

Winner: Falcons

Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots

As much as it pains me to say it, I think the Patriots are heading back to the god damn Super Bowl. That makes me feel annoyed because I’m so bored with that narrative. I’m so god damn bored. If the Steelers defense can actually play a consistent game and pressure Brady, maybe that won’t be the narrative this year. This will be the toughest team the Steelers have faced in a while, but I really have no idea what the hell will happen. Every time I try to come up with something I’m wrong. I need a new crystal ball in the off-season.

I miss him already.

Winner: Patriots (I sure hope I’m wrong)

Love each other, enjoy sports. Escape from reality for a few hours on Sunday.
