What happens out in the lots, stays out in the lots.

It me Bears fan.

It me Bears fan.

I don’t know why I was a Dolphins fan. I can’t think of a single moment that stands out to me. I think I become a fan because I loved watching Dan Marino throw the long ball. People forget how great Marino was because he never won a Super Bowl, or made it to the Big Game after his second year in the league. They also forget how Marino never had a good running back. I mean did Elway win two Super Bowls or did he play QB on the team that had Terrell Davis? All the Dolphins ever did was be 8-8 every year, and to be honest, it sucked.

So after watching the only other Dolphins fan I knew and talked to on a daily basis become a Vikings fan back in 2016, I was left all alone. And after watching the team I grew up loving continue to be mediocre at best, I decided I was done being hurt by an NFL team.

I made the decision that I was just going to be a nomad, I was going to wander the NFL desert and watch whatever game I wanted to with no strings attached. And this was a fun! I could root for the underdogs every week, etc.  But life has a funny way of bringing you full circle.

This all leads to the perfect storm and how I became a Bears fan. Looking back, I don’t know why I wasn’t a Bears fan to begin with. Being a lifelong Cubs fan, the Bears were right there. But anyway, let’s look at the path that led me from the fan of no team to a fan of DA BEARS.  It probably started when I got Tarik Cohen on my fantasy team, and watching all their games last year as they won the NFC Central. Interacting with Bears fans on Twitter and in daily life was fun.  Then, in the April 2019 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears drafted Iowa State running back David Montgomery.  But the final piece, and this is probably the most important to me, is my father-in-law passed away a few years ago, and I loved that man. He was a lifelong Bears fan. It is when I think about how much he loved the team and the city of Chicago that makes it super easy for me to be a Bears fan for the rest of the days.

Also as a Iowa State fan I know all about having kickers break your heart, so that should be super easy as well.
