Another week has come and is bringing excitement with it! I’m guessing nobody missed the Red River Shootout which cost the Sooners a coach, along with some other games that shook up the playoff picture. Three teams in the top ten fell this last weekend, 2 being in the impeccable SEC. Week 7 is going to bring more fun and we’ll start to see the real outlines and paths for teams to get to conference championships. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
Kick in the Glass
The morning games don’t offer a ton of marquee matchups but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t fun to be had. Just in the Big Ten, Iowa heading to Indiana could turn out to be quite the affair and PJ Fleck rows his boat right into Columbus for what we all assume will be an ass kicking. On top of that, there’s a Frost Warning in Evanston as Nebraska continues their search for a victory. The first one is always the hardest Scott! Florida-Vandy could be interesting depending on the Gators team that gets off the bus, and Bill Snyder hosts Okie State to use his voodoo magic to try and hand the Cowboys consecutive losses.
What You’ll Need: Vodka, Triple sec, Tang mix, Orange juice, Water
Fill your tailgating cup of choice with ice and add in equal parts vodka and triple sec. Next, add in a spoonful of Tang mix (surprisingly still available and very cheap) and a small splash of orange juice. Finally, fill with water and stir until the powder is dissolved!
Forbidden Fruit
The afternoon this Saturday is absolutely LIT!!! Ok, that might be a bit of a stretch, but there’s definitely some good football that will be great to watch. Pitt takes on Notre Dame and this just feels like the perfect trap game for the Irish. Pitt is the East Coast version of Iowa State, they might not be a great team, but they’re gonna trip someone up. Beyond that, Georgia heads to Baton Rouge to take on Coach O and the Tigers. Washington heads to Autzen to face Oregon in a huge Pac-12 matchup. Michigan State takes on Penn State, and I’m saying that should be a good game, but PSU will probably just piss pound them. Texas A&M is welcomed back into the Top 25 this week and gets treated with a trip to Columbia to face a South Carolina team that’s shown some decent fight this year. Strap in, because there’s plenty of action to be watched, so keep that remote handy.
What You’ll Need: Apple whiskey, Peach schnapps, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, Sprite
This is tasty treat that you’ll have to keep an eye on cause it could burn you! Fill a cup a ice and add in equal parts apple whiskey and peach schnapps. Top the rest of the drink off with an even mixture of cranberry and pineapple juices with a small splash of sprite. There’s plenty of flavors to go around here which leaves plenty of room to garnish with just about any fruit you would like.
Surfer on Acid
The night games are a bit of a come down from the wild afternoon that’s scheduled but there’s still plenty of fun. Mizzou heads to Bama if you’re interested in watching Tua build up his Heisman highlight reel. Bama is only favored by 4 touchdowns this week, so maybe Missouri is the one that’ll finally get them! (They won’t). The highlight of the night is Wisconsin heading to the Big House to take on Michigan in a game that is absolutely huge in the Big Ten. These two will knock each other all over the place and leave the other beaten and bruised. A few hours late Hawaii comes to the mainland to show off their offensive firepower against the Mormons at BYU-Provo.
What You’ll Need: Coconut rum, Jagermeister, pineapple juice
You’re gonna have to stick with me here, because I know how this sounds. Fill your cup with ice and mix in equal parts of Jagermeister and coconut rum. From there, top off with pineapple juice and give everything a good stir. Again, I understand this sounds disgusting but keep an open mind and give it a try, I promise it actually has a decent flavor to it.
SHOT OF THE WEEK!!!
We’re keeping the Jager train rolling folks! Most of you know by now that I’m a fan of the deer blood, but I promise this is the only time I’m going to keep pushing it on you in questionable scenarios. All you need for this is a bottle of Jager and a bottle of Goldschlager, which I recommend keeping in the freezer or at least on ice any time you have it. The shot itself is very simple, half Jager and half Goldschlager. It creates a mystical look with the gold flakes floating in the liquid!
Week 7 should be a great time for everyone! There’s plenty of action to go around and some good matchups to keep the hits coming all day. As always, stay safe, stay hydrated and now its the time of year to start staying warm! I hope your favorite team wins and I’ll catch you right here next week!
