Dinner and a Movie with the Moons

Dinner and a Movie with the Moons

This month we watched Oscar award-winning JoJo Rabbit and enjoyed breakfast for dinner with pancakes!

We got so hungry, we forgot to take a photo of our pancakes. Here’s a photo from AllRecipes.

  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Haley: This movie mostly turned out to be what I expected after reading the description of a young boy in Hitler Youth who has “Adolf” as an imaginary friend: appalling, funny, serious, weird, and great. I will also add a word I didn’t expect: charming. By viewing World War II through JoJo’s eyes, and through a modern lens, this movie sends a message that love and friendship can completely change your worldview… and that’s probably a good thing.

Haley’s one Gif to describe JoJo Rabbit:

Ryan: JoJo Rabbit takes political satire to an extreme and delivers. A movie with Hitler as an imaginary friend can seem weird on the outside, but it seems to take a comedic-dramatic approach that showcases a different side of World War II. A side that focuses on the youth being brainwashed by their elders into believing so strongly in a horrible man, to a side that shows many of those same individuals seeing true evil and acting to bring good back into the world. This movie has an Inglourious Basterds combined with Schindler’s List vibe. It is an uncomfortably funny but important and feel-good movie to watch.
