It’s late June. NBA and NHL seasons just wrapped up, and baseball isn’t going to really get interesting for a little while. The only way to survive this sports desert is to spend time thinking about the best sport there is – college football.
For 2019’s Mount Rushmore Week at TGS, I’m writing about the four best college football moments from the 21st century (the last 18 seasons). There are certainly a lot to choose from, and these decisions were tough. For example, I left some out because they were too recent to know for sure, or because I’m trying to avoid showing bias, or even because the most pivotal moment doesn’t make for great TV.
With that said, I’ve settled on my four moments that are deserving of this honor. They’re listed below in chronological order. Let me know what I missed and what you would have included instead. Enjoy this trip down memory lane – the 2019 season is just around the corner…
2006 Rose Bowl – USC vs. Texas: Vince Young wins a title
2007 Fiesta Bowl – Oklahoma vs. Boise State: Statue of Liberty
2008 – Texas vs. Texas Tech: Michael Crabtree stays inbounds
2013 Iron Bowl – Alabama vs. Auburn: Kick Six
