It’s a good time to be a gamer. While the buzz in the gaming community is currently surrounding the wildly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2, there are plenty of games that have released or will release in 2016 to hold you off until Rockstar brings us back to the Old West. Fellow TGS writer Brett Stiles will have more games for you to stuff your stockings with, but here are my four must haves for the holiday season.
Final Fantasy XV
Unofficial tagline: Totally not compensating with my 7 foot sword.
It’s finally (almost) here! The hyper realistic graphics of the FF world return in this open-world setting with an action based combat system similar to that of Kingdom Hearts. Players who like FF will also like: Lost Odyssey, Kingdom Hearts, Shadow Hearts
Mafia 3
Unofficial Tagline: Revenge with a side of jambalaya.
The next installment in the the Mafia series takes you to 1968 New Orleans. I can tell you from experience that the story and the gameplay in Mafia 3 is something you need to set aside a few days for. Fans can purchase Mafia 3 now on PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.

Corvo returns 15 years after the original Dishonored. Play as Corvo or his daughter Emily (hold up, your name is Corvo but you name your daughter Emily?) in this Victorian style sci-fi slasher. Whether you like stealth or violence, this game is sure to please. Fans can purchase Dishonored 2 on November 11th for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

It’s back! Five years after the original Skyrim hit the shelves it’s finally time to get back to Tamriel to bring order back to a kingdom caught in the middle of a civil war and the mysterious return of dragons. Create your character, use your mods (even on PS4!), and take back control with hundreds of quests to keep you busy for as long as your girlfriend will allow. Fans can purchase Skyrim on October 28th for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
