Will I jinx the Cubs?

Will I jinx the Cubs?

Wow! That about sums up the Cubs game last night – amazing finish and intense nine innings. I could go on and on about how much fun that was to watch. Here’s the thing though….I’m not a real Cubs fan. Sure they’re one of the closest MLB teams to where I grew up and currently live, but you know how I am (some of you do). I do things the hard way, so naturally when picking my MLB team I went with the Atlanta Braves [what?]. I know, I know, that makes very little sense now, but back then the Braves were the shit you guys! They won 5 NL pennants in 9 seasons between 1991 and 1999. That’s pretty damn good, but it’s been…21 years since their last World Series title? Wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long. They were really, really good.

That’s not the point though. They aren’t very good right now, and that means I have to pick a team for this postseason, and with my twitter dot com timeline, hell I might as well pick the Cubs, right? What’s the worst that could happen? I jinx this whole thing for you guys? Gosh I really hope not. The last few games have been a blast on Twitter interacting with Cubs fans, and I really hope it continues.

So what’s the main reason I picked them as my post season team? I really mean it when I say this, Cubs fans deserve a World Series title, and I know more players on the Cubs than any other team thanks to my Twitter timeline, so what the hell!

PS. In 2004 after the Braves were knocked out, I picked the Boston Red Sox as my team to root for, and guess what happened? They made it to the World Series after winning the AL, due to the Yankees blowing a 3-1 lead [where have we heard that before?]. Oh yeah, they also won the whole damn thing.
